MY KIDS FAVOURITE SMOOTHIE

Smoothies are an excellent way of getting your kids to consume fruit and veggies!!! I'd like to emphasise the importance of veggies, as I don't personally promote the 'all fruit' smoothies. They taste very sweet and children's taste buds can get used to it, and they will later refuse anything that is less sweet.

Every day after school my kiddies have a glass of nutritious smoothie, that provides them with 4 portions of fruit and vegetables, as well as fibre and omega 3 fatty acids, thanks to chia seeds/ flaxseeds content. It is so delicious that they fight about who’s got the largest glass (I have to be very careful to divide equally… even few millimetres make a huge difference and can cause a serious fight ;-)))

How do we make it?

INGREDIENTS (for 3 glasses):

  • 200 g of frozen blueberries/ raspberries/ cherries (defrosted),

  • 2 bananas,

  • half a cucumber,

  • large handful (about 100 g) of green leafy veg -> we rotate between spinach, kale and different kinds of lettuce leaves,

  • 1.5 tbsp of chia seeds or flaxseeds,

  • enough rice milk to cover the ingredients.

METHOD:

In the morning I take the frozen berries out of the freezer and defrost in the fridge for about 8 hours. To make a smoothie I use the biggest cup of @thenutribullet and just blend everything for about 30 seconds. Since my NutriBullet is so powerful, there is no need to pre-soak the seeds, but if your blender is less then 900W of power, I would advise soaking the seeds beforehand.
